ICMAB ex-president Delwer Hussain elected SAFA vice president

AKM Delwer Hussain FCMA has been elected as the vice president of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2020. He will be the president of SAFA for the year 2021.

SAFA took the decision at its 63rd board meeting on August 8.

Delwer Hussain served as the president of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) in 2004 and 2013.

He was elected as a board member and also member of the Strategic Committee of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) in 2004.

Delwer Hussain was the chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) and the director of Rupali Bank. He was also a member of the National Wages and Productivity Commission of Bangladesh in 2010.

At present, he is a member at finance committee of BUET, WASO Credit Rating Company BD Ltd and secretary general of Consultative Committee of State Owned Enterprises (CONCOPE).

He was also the director of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd, Khulna Shipyard & Narayanganj Dockyard Ltd, Bangladesh Diesel Plant Ltd, Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market and Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd.

SAFA is a forum of professional accounting bodies in the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region of eight nations. Founded in 1984, it works in the public interest and towards broad economic development of the region in part through promoting harmonization of accounting standards and practices.
