Market capital increases by Tk 15,000cr at DSE, CSE

Transactions at the stock markets in the country saw some massive shift and riding on the buying behaviour of investors the market capitalization of the two stock markets increased by 15,400.40 crore taka in the last week.

During the week, transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 30 percent and on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) by 92 percent.

Market capitalization of DSE stood at 3,33,685.93 crore taka on Thursday which was 3,25,732.76 crore taka the previous week.

On the other hand, the market capitalization of CSE increased by 7,447.22 crore taka during the week or 2.89 percent to 2,64,723.39 crore taka. In the previous week, the market capitalization of CSE was 2,57,276.16 crore taka.

In the last 4 working days of the outgoing week, 2,903 crore 90 lakh 34 thousand 251 taka had been transacted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). The amount is 670 crore 13 lakh 40 thousand 675 taka or 30 percent more than the previous week. The previous week's transaction was 2 thousand 233 crore76 lakh 93 thousand 576 taka.

The average turnover in the outgoing week at the DSE was 725 crore 97 lakh 58 thousand 563 taka. The average transaction the week before was 446 crore 75 lakh 38 thousand 715 taka.

During the week, the DSE's main index, the DSEX gained 150.40 points or 3.57 percent to 4,364.83 points. Among other indices, the Shariah Index rose by 34.61 points or 3.54 percent and the DSE-30 Index rose 55.24 points or 3.89 percent to 1,011.11 points and 1,475.88 points respectively.

The turnover was 97crore 27 lakh 1 thousand 218 taka in the outgoing week at CSE. The previous week's transaction was 50 crore 66 lakh 80 thousand 724 taka at the CSE.

During the week, the overall CSE index CASPI rose 444.82 points or 3.72 percent to 12,401.88 points.
