Stocks rebound on both bourses

Stocks on Wednesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges amid growing investors’ confidence following the securities regulator’s hard stance on the mandatory shareholding issue.

The turnover on the DSE also exceeded the previous day and it scored a century. On the other hand, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has also increased all the indices. However, the amount of money traded on the CSE has decreased from the previous day.

On Wednesday, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) DSEX increased by 100 points and is currently standing at 4,633 points. Among other DSE indices, the Shariah Index increased by 24 points and the DSE-30 Index increased by 37 points, settling at 1088 points and 1,581 points respectively.

Of the 355 issues traded, 199 gained, 115 fell while 41 remained unchanged.

The market-cap on the premier bourse rose to Taka 3,522 billion on Wednesday, from Taka 3,454 billion in the previous session.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Brac Bank, Beximco, Square Pharma, and BTABC.

Stylecraft was the day’s best performer while Savar Refractories was the worst loser.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI increased by 276 points to 13,165 points on Wednesday. Shares and units worth of Tk 35.09 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 284 issues traded during the day, 154 gained, 90 declined and 30 remained unchanged.
