Bourses maintain gaining streak

All the indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Sunday witnessed an upward trend with DSEX registering its fourth-highest single-day rise.

DSEX, the key index of the DSE, went up by 156.16 points or 3.32 per cent to settle at 4,859.49. Two other indices also ended higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 45.58 points to finish at 1,639 and the DSE Shariah Index rose 21.42 points to close at 1,109.

Shares and units worth 1,351.33 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Sunday.

Of the 354 issues traded, 301 gained, 42 fell while 11 remained unchanged.

Beximco Pharmaceuticals topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco, BRAC Bank, Square Pharma and Sonar Bangla Insurance.

PHP First Mutual Fund was the day’s best performer, while Eastern Cables was the worst loser.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 495 points to 13,856 points on Sunday. Shares and units worth of 46.04 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 296 issues traded during the day, 251 gained, 25 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
