Good governance of brokerage houses a must: DBA

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has started to consolidate its control over the stock market and experts suggest it is necessary to strengthen good governance in brokerage houses first.

The issue came up during a virtual discussion between representatives of the brokerage houses and the DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) on Sunday.

DBA president Sharif Anwar Hossain said his association discussed various issues with stakeholders. In June and July, the market went through a crisis, but in August, the market came to a better position. This has been possible through strengthening of good governance, Sharif added.

The meeting also discussed making transactions widely available so that investors from all over the world can participate. This will increase the income of brokerage houses as well.
