Stocks see big rise after big fall

After a two-day big fall, the stock market ended on Wednesday (August 19) with a big rise.

All the indices of both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) have risen on this day. At the same time, the amount of money transacted has also increased. However, the share and unit prices of most companies have declined today, according to sources in DSE and CSE.

On Wednesday, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange DSEX up by 69 points to 4,789 points. Among other indices of DSE, Shariah index has increased by 14 points and DSE-30 index has increased by 35 points to 1,095 and 1,644 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk 1,149.03 crore were traded on the DSE on Wednesday – up by Tk 96.54 crore from Tk 1,052.49 crore just one working day ago. Of the 357 issues traded, 151 gained, 175 fell while 31 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange CASPI went up by 222 points to 13,713 points on Wednesday. Shares and units worth of Tk 35.38 crore were traded at the CSE.

Among the 282 issues traded during the day, 125 gained, 132 declined and 25 remained unchanged.
