PE ratio of DSE increases by 1.69pc in one week

The overall Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio of the country's main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 1.69 per cent in the outgoing week.

The PE ratio of the DSE was at 12.45 points at the beginning of the week, which is at 12.66 points at the end of the week. In other words, the PE ratio has increased by 0.21 points or 1.69 per cent during the week.

At the end of the week, the PE ratio of the banking sector stands at 6.90 points, IT sector at 16.60 points, textile at 14.48 points, pharmaceuticals and chemicals at 19.93 points, engineering at 14.24 points, insurance at 16.60 points, food at 11.98 points, leather at 16.50 points, cement at 28.61 points, power and energy at 11.81 points, financial at 28.31 points, travel and leisure at 31.33 points, paper at 46.44 points, telecommunications at 11.24 points, services and housing at 12.88 points, ceramic at 24.20 points, jute at 33.57 points, and finally, the miscellaneous sector settles at 24.55 points.
