BSEC serves notice to DSE for website issues

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulatory body of the capital market, has issued a show-cause notice against the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) over the context of investors suffering from several glitches after the launch of the updated version of the DSE website.

On Thursday (August 20) evening, the managing director (MD) of the main stock market of the country was called at the BSEC office and a letter of protest was handed over, sources said.

Investors had been facing trouble trading at the DSE for several days as the pace of trading at the stock market increased. In addition to taking a long time to accept orders to buy and sell using the DSE software, there are also allegations of occasional code changes.

In this situation, the DSE began trading through the updated version of their website on August 19. Investors have been experiencing problems to access the website since the launch of the new version.

Before the launch of the updated website though, the DSE said in a notification on Tuesday that the updated site will be very user-friendly and responsive, which will automatically adjust the display according to the user's needs and the features of the Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP).

The commission asked the DSE to resolve the issue as soon as possible after Thursday evening. The DSE worked on Friday and Saturday. That is why the website is performing much on Sunday (August 23) than the previous two days, according to the DSE sources.
