Bourses bounce back

Both the stock markets of Dhaka and Chattogram bounced back on Tuesday after a single day's break. All the indices of the stock markets have advanced on this day. The amount of money transacted has increased as well.

However, the share price of most of the companies has declined.

On Tuesday, the key index of the Dhaka stock exchange (DSE) DSEX increased by 19 points, settling at 4,782 points. Among other indices of the DSE, the Shariah Index (DSES) went up by 10 points and DSE-30 index by 15 points to finish at 1,114 and 1,660 points respectively.

Shares and units of 786.01 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Tuesday – 56.65 crore taka more than the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of the 357 issues traded, 137 gained, 172 fell while 48 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Express Insurance, Miracle Industries, BD Finance, SEML LEC Management Fund, GQ Ball pen, EBL 1st Mutual Fund, National Housing, Sino-Bangla, Beximco and SEBL 1st Mutual Fund.

Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Grameenphone, Orion Pharma, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Square Pharma, BSCCL, BSC, IFIC and Singer BD.

The top ten losers were Dacca Dyeing, Tung Hai Knitting, Pragati Insurance, Sun Life Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, Family Tex, Zeal Bangla Sugar, Mithun Knitting, Emerald Oil and Pioneer Insurance.

On the other hand, the key index of the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI advanced 58 points to close at 13,640 points on Tuesday. Shares and units worth 24.77 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 286 issues traded during the day, 111 gained, 111 declined and 46 remained unchanged.
