HC declares 37th annual meeting of Pubali Bank illegal

The High Court (HC) on Thursday declared the 37th annual general meeting of Pubali Bank illegal.
 
The court also directed Pubali Bank to hold fresh annual general meeting within six weeks after getting a copy of the verdict.
 
The old Board of Directors will perform its duty until a new Board is formed through the annual general meeting, the HC said.
 
Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed's bench passed the order after hearing an appeal filed by Advocate AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Sakib Mahbub.
 
Advocates Ramjan Ali Shikdar, Mostafizur Rahman, Jakir Chowdhury and Karisma Jahan stood for the bank.
 
Advocate Sakib Mahbub said the 37th general meeting of Pubali Bank was held on July 30.
 
"Before that on July 28, we filed an appeal with the HC seeking cancellation of the scheduled meeting as it was held virtually," he said.
