Stocks end week on high

Both the stock markets of Dhaka and Chattogram ended the outgoing week maintaining the gaining streak for another session on Thursday.

All the indices of the stock markets gained on this day. The amount of money transacted and the share and unit prices of most of the companies participating in the transaction have also increased.

On Thursday, the key index of the Dhaka stock exchange (DSE) DSEX went up by 46 points to close at 4,873 points. Among other indices of the DSE, the Shariah index (DSES) increased by 4 points and DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 11 points, finishing at 1,131 and 1,690 points respectively.

Shares and units of 907.13 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Thursday – 123.43 crore taka more than that of the previous working day.

Gainers took the lead today as out of the 357 issues traded, 196 gained, 111 fell while 50 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI rose by 147 points to settle at 13,873 points on Thursday. Shares and units worth of 26.18 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 283 issues traded during the day, 166 gained, 75 declined and 42 remained unchanged.
