PE ratio of DSE increases by 3.16pc

The overall Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio of the country's main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 3.16 per cent in the outgoing week.

The PE ratio of the DSE was at 12.66 points at the beginning of the week, which is at 13.06 points at the end of the week. In other words, the PE ratio has increased by 0.40 points or 3.16 per cent during the week.

At the end of the week, the PE ratio of the banking sector stands at 6.87 points, IT sector at 16.33 points, textile at 14.91 points, pharmaceuticals and chemicals at 20.32 points, engineering at 14.71 points, insurance at 15.80 points, food at 13.49 points, leather at 17.39 points, cement at 30.15 points, power and energy at 12.20 points, financial at 27.84 points, travel and leisure at 31.19 points, paper at 46.80 points, telecommunications at 12.27 points, services and housing at 13.30 points, ceramic at 24.56 points, jute at 38.93 points, and finally, the miscellaneous sector settles at 25.18 points.
