Stocks snap four-day winning streak with slight fall

Despite rising the previous day, the stock markets fell sharply on Tuesday (September 1). All the indices of both the stock markets declined on this day. At the same time, the amount of money traded and the share and unit prices of most companies decreased.

On Tuesday, the key index of Dhaka stock exchange (DSE) DSEX fell by 17 points to 4,862 points. Among other indices of DSE, Shariah index has decreased by 1 point and DSE-30 index has decreased by 3 points to 1,131 and 1,696 points respectively.

Shares and units of Tk 777.42 crore were traded on the DSE on Tuesday – less by Tk 389.35 crore from Tk 1,166.77 crore just one working day ago. Of the 355 issues traded, 139 gained, 179 fell while 37 remained unchanged.

he top 10 gainers were Anlima Yarn, Anwar Galvanizing, Desh Garments, Samata Leather, Miracle Industries, Express Insurance, Sonargaon Textile, BDCom Online, BD Finance and ACI Formulation.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Brac Bank, Grameenphone, Orion Pharma, Express Insurance,Square Pharma, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, BATBC and BD Finance.

The top ten losers were Shyampur Sugar, Zeal Bangla Sugar, ICB 3rd NRB, NCCBL Mutual Fund 1, IFIL ISL Mutual Fund 1, Prime Bank 1 ICB AMCL Mutual Fund, United Air, BD Welding, ICB AMCL First Agrani Bank Mutual Fund and CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI fell by 49 points to 13,859 points on Tuesday. Shares and units worth of Tk 20.15 crore were traded at the CSE.  

Among the 265 issues traded during the day, 94 gained, 124 declined and 47 remained unchanged.
