Stocks surge on Sunday

Bourses ended with a rise on Sunday, the first working day of the week, with main indicators of both the stock markets marking bullish trend.

At the same time, the share and unit prices of most companies have increased. However, the amount of money transacted has decreased slightly from the previous working day.

On Sunday, the key index of the Dhaka stock exchange (DSE) DSEX went up by 21 points to close at 4,949 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah Index (DSES) decreased by 1 point and DSE-30 index increased by 1 point to close at 1,141 and 1,717 points respectively.

Shares and units of 1,025.99 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Sunday – 67.89 crore taka less than 1,093.88 crore taka of the previous session.

Gainers took lead over losers on Sunday as of the 350 issues traded, 175 gained, 141 fell while 34 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI advanced 54 points, settling at 14,120 points on Sunday. Shares and units worth of 28.05 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 262 issues traded during the day, 139 gained, 91 declined and 32 remained unchanged.
