Bourses gain, transactions decrease

All the indices of both the stock markets of the country increased on Monday, the second working day of the week. However, both of the stock exchanges witnessed a decrease in the volume of transactions.

The share and unit prices of most of the companies participating in the transaction have also come down.

On Monday, the key index of the Dhaka stock exchange (DSE) DSEX, rose by 11 points to settle at 4,959 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) increased by 2 points and DSE-30 index advanced 7 points to close at 1,143 and 1,724 points respectively.

Shares and units of 976.12 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Monday, 49.87 crore taka less than 1,025.99 crore taka of the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers of Monday as out of the 357 issues traded, 130 gained, 182 fell while 45 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 56 points, finishing at 14,169 points on Monday. Shares and units worth 31.24 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 269 issues traded during the day, 111 gained, 122 declined and 36 remained unchanged.
