Market capital increases by Tk 12,200cr at DSE, CSE

In continuation of the previous week, both stock markets of the country traded up in the outgoing week. Stock exchanges witnessed a rise in all the indices, as well as an increase in transactions during the week.

As a result, investors recovered a market capitalisation of 12,200.56 crore taka during the week.

During the outgoing week, 5,294 crore 79 lakh 89 thousand 591 taka was traded on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in 5 working days, making it 1 thousand 55 crore 36 lakh 10 thousand 958 taka or 24.89 per cent more than the previous week. In the previous week, the transaction was 4 thousand 239 crore 43 lakh 78 thousand 633 taka.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalisation of DSE stood at 3,78,941.97 crore taka. The market capitalisation on the last working day of the previous week was 3 lakh 72 thousand 578 crore 70 lakh 57 thousand taka. In other words, the market capitalisation of DSE increased by 6,354.27 crore taka during the week.

The DSE's main index, the DSEX, rose by 83.47 points, or 1.69 per cent to settle at 5,011.29 points during the week.

Among other indices, the Shariah Index (DSES) increased 16.70 points or 1.46 per cent, and the DSE-30 Index rose by 24.82 points or 1.45 per cent to close at 1,158.52 points and 1,740.23 points respectively.

In the outgoing week, a total of 360 companies participated in the share and unit transactions on the DSE. Among the companies, the share price increased for 217 or 60.27 per cent, decreased for 119 or 33.05 per cent and remained unchanged for 24 or 6.66 per cent.

On the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) in the outgoing week, shares and units worth 154 crore 29 lakh 59 thousand 802 taka were traded. The amount was 115 crore 9 lakh 53 thousand 983 taka the previous week. In other words, the turnover on the CSE during the week has increased by 39 crore 20 lakh 5 thousand 819 taka or 34.05 per cent.

During the week, the market capitalisation of CSE increased by 5,846.29 crore taka to 3,09,013.51 crore taka. In the previous week, the market capitalisation of CSE was 3 lakh 3 thousand 167 crore 21 lakh 60 thousand taka.

During the week, the overall CSE index CASPI rose by 228.52 points or 1.62 per cent to 14,295.09 points. Shares and units of 312 companies were traded on the CSE during the week. Of the companies, 192 or 61.53 per cent increased, 96 or 30.76 per cent decreased and 24 or 7.69 per cent remained unchanged.
