Market capital increases, indices fall slightly

All the indices of both the stock exchanges of the country ended with a slight decline on Monday after a big jump the previous session. The amount of money transacted and the share and unit prices of most companies participating also decreased at the same time.

However, market capitalisation has increased slightly.

On Monday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX decreased by 2 points, settling at 5,092 points. Among other indices of the DSE, the Shariah index (DSES) declined by 0.24 point and the DSE-30 index fell by 0.88 points to close at 1,170 and 1,756 points respectively.

Shares and units of 1,148.95 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Monday, which is 180.77 crore taka less than 1,329.72 crore taka of the previous working day.

Losers took a lead over gainers on Monday as out of the 356 issues traded, 143 gained, 175 fell while 38 remained unchanged.

At the end of today's transaction, the market capitalisation of the DSE stood at 3 lakh 85 thousand 260 crore 20 lakh 7 thousand taka. Before the start of the transaction, the market capitalisation was 3 lakh 84 thousand 654 crore 93 lakh 89 thousand taka.

In other words, the market capitalisation on the DSE today increased by 605 crore 26 lakh 18 thousand taka.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went down by 5 points to finish at 14,523 points on Monday. Shares and units worth of 39.02 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 272 issues traded during the day, 117 gained, 122 declined and 33 remained unchanged.
