DSEX touches 5100-mark

After witnessing a marginal fall on Monday, the stock markets of Dhaka and Chattogram ended in a slight rise on Tuesday (September 15) with the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) DSEX crossing 5,100 points after one year.

The main indicators of both the stock markets rose slightly on this day. However, the amount of money transacted and the share and unit prices of most companies have declined.

On Tuesday, DSEX increased by 8 points, thus finishing at 5,101 points. Among other indices of the DSE, the Shariah index (DSES) advanced 0.14 point and the DSE-30 index rose by 5.33 points to settle at 1,171 and 1,761 points respectively.

Shares and units of 995.59 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Tuesday, 153.36 crore taka less than 1,148.95 crore taka of the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as of the 355 issues traded, 128 gained, 174 fell while 53 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 10 points to close at 14,524 points on Tuesday. Shares and units worth of 26.12 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 276 issues traded during the day, 86 gained, 153 declined and 37 remained unchanged.
