Sunday stocks suffer strong selling

Although there was a slight rise on Thursday, both the stock markets of the country ended in fall on Sunday (September 27). Shares and unit prices of most companies declined as well.

However, the amount of money transactions increased slightly from the previous session.

On Sunday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock exchange (DSE), DSEX decreased by 7 points, standing at 4,972 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) declined by 5 point and DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, dropped by 10 points to finish at 1,122 and 1,691 points respectively.

Shares and units of 1034.42 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Sunday, 153.90 crore taka more than 880.52 crore taka in the previous working day.

Losers took lead over gainers on the first working day of the week as out of the 357 issues traded, 106 gained, 210 fell while 41 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CASPI went down by 17 points to close at 14,193 points on Sunday. Shares and units worth of 31.42 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 290 issues traded during the day, 104 gained, 156 declined and 30 remained unchanged.
