Investors suffer again for DSE website issues

Investors are once again experiencing technical issues using the website of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country's main stock market. Transactions have been hampered throughout the day on Sunday as a result.

It is learned that investors have been suffering from several problems since Sunday (October 4) morning using the DSE website. They failed to see any information on the stock exchange in time, including transactions. They could not understand the rise or fall of share prices, which resulted in problems in decisions on buying and selling of shares and units.

Earlier, DSE Chairman Yunusur Rahman on August 18 launched an updated version of the DSE website. After the inauguration, investors began to suffer from different types of technical glitches including an extremely slow website on August 19 and 20.

Due to this, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulatory body of the stock markets of the country, convened an inquiry committee on August 24 led by Dhaka University Professor and Chairman of the CSE Department Md Mustafizur Rahman. The committee submitted its report on September 14.

In its report, the investigation committee said the website suffered after the launch of the updated software due to the weakness and lack of competency of the Information and Technology (IT) department of the DSE. However, the committee said that there was no intentional error or forgery in this case.
