Both the stock markets of the country ended with a slight rise on Sunday (October 4). The main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose on this day while the other indices of the DSE shed points.
The amount of money transacted also increased today, the first working day of the week. However, the share and unit prices of most companies have decreased.
On Sunday, the key index of the DSE, DSEX, increased by 3 points, standing at 4,998 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) decreased by 4 points and DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, dropped by 3 points to finish at 1,123 and 1,707 points respectively.
Shares and units of 889.37 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Sunday, which is 15.88 crore taka more than 873.49 crore taka in the previous session.
Losers took lead over gainers on Sunday as out of the 355 issues traded, 133 gained, 171 fell while 51 remained unchanged.
On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 5 points to close at 14,292 points on Sunday. Shares and units worth of 29.23 crore taka were traded at the CSE.
Among the 266 issues traded during the day, 104 gained, 126 declined and 36 remained unchanged.
