SC orders restoration of Dacca Dying’s gas link

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on October 15 directed Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Ltd to reconnect the gas line of Dacca Dyeing & Manufacturing Company Ltd’s factory located in Pagar area of Tongi in Gazipur.

A writ petition concerned the matter was modified upon an order from the High Court in July 2016 and the petitioner then deposited 100 crore taka.

Later, the petitioner deposited 35 lakh taka following a verbal order of the Appellate Division.

The gas connection of the writ petitioner's factory will be restored within 15 days from the date of receipt of the order of the Appellate Division, as said on the website of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Sunday.

The writ petition is directed to make payment of 20 lakh taka per month as arrear gas bill along with the regular gas bill.

With the above modification of the order passed by the High Court, the civil petition for leave to appeal is also disposed of, the DSE said.
