Stocks end on positive note

Like on Monday, both the stock markets of the country ended in a rise on Tuesday (October 20). On this day, the amount of money transacted, as well as the share and unit prices of most companies increased.

On Tuesday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX increased by 15 points, standing at 4,917 points. However, among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) decreased by 5 points and DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, declined by 4 points to finish at 1,119 and 1,694 points respectively.

Shares and units of 915.05 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Tuesday, which is 130.91 crore taka more than 784.14 crore in the previous session.

Gainers took lead over losers today as out of the 355 issues traded, 160 gained, 139 fell while 56 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 32 points to close at 14,063 points on Tuesday. Shares and units worth of 21.69 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 268 issues traded during the day, 133 gained, 92 declined and 43 remained unchanged.
