Both the stock markets in the country ended in correction on Wednesday (October 21) after remaining green for four consecutive sessions in a row.
The amount of transaction as well as share prices of most of the companies also decreased on Wednesday.
The main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX decreased by 0.40 points, settling at 4,916.85 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) declined by 2.35 points to finish at 1,116.74 points. However, the DSE-30 index increased by 0.68 points, closing at 1,695.07 points.
Shares and units of 855.25 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Wednesday, which is 59.80 crore taka less than 915.05 crore taka in the previous working day.
Losers took lead over the gainers as out of the 354 issues traded on Wednesday, 109 gained, 178 fell while 67 remained unchanged.
On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI fell by 26.89 points to 14,034.27 points on Wednesday. Shares and units worth of 23.42 crore taka were traded at the CSE.
Among the 265 issues traded during the day, 81 gained, 134 declined and 50 remained unchanged.
