The overall Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio of the country's main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), declined by 1.35 per cent in the outgoing week.
The PE ratio of the DSE was at 13.38 points at the beginning of the week, which is at 13.20 points at the end of the week. In other words, the PE ratio has decreased by 0.18 points or 1.35 per cent during the week.
At the end of the week, the PE ratio of the banking sector stands at 6.98 points, IT sector at 16.01 points, textile at 14.78 points, pharmaceuticals and chemicals at 19.48 points, engineering at 12.06 points, insurance at 22.32 points, food at 13.23 points, leather at 17.86 points, cement at 29.75 points, power and energy at 12.26 points, financial at 30.35 points, travel and leisure at 31.74 points, paper at 44.11 points, telecommunications at 13.33 points, services and housing at 13.35 points, ceramic at 22.46 points, jute at 32.63 points, and finally, the miscellaneous sector settles at 22.66 points.
