Bourses maintain upward trend, transactions increase

The stock markets of Dhaka and Chattogram maintained upward trend on Monday (November 2), the second working day of the week, with an increase of the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

At the same time, the share and unit prices of most companies and the amount of transaction increased from that of the previous session.

On Monday, the main index of DSE, DSEX advanced by 21.69 points, settling at 4,918.38 points. Among the other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) increased by 1.31 points to close at 1,112.21 points.

However, the DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, decreased by 1.03 points to finish at 1,698.98 points.

Shares and units of 892.34 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Monday, which is 106.99 crore taka more than 785.35 crore taka of the previous working day.

Gainers took lead over losers as out of the 357 issues traded, 159 gained, 144 fell while 54 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went up by 88.71 points to stand at 14,070.62 points on Monday. Shares and units worth of 50.50 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 260 issues traded during the day, 133 gained, 86 declined and 41 remained unchanged.
