Indices fall, transactions increase slightly

Stock markets of Dhaka and Chattogram took a dip on Tuesday (November 10) after a rise on Monday. All the indices of both the stock markets declined on the third day of the week.

At the same time, the share and unit prices of most companies decreased. However, the amount of transactions increased slightly.

On Tuesday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX, decreased by 28.43 points, standing at 4,899.64 points. Among other indices of the DSE, Shariah index (DSES) fell 8.35 points and DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips, declined by 16.53 points to finish at 1,112.80 and 1,703.32 points respectively.

Shares and units of 925.11 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Tuesday, which is 43.79 crore taka more than 881.32 crore taka of the previous session.

Losers took a big lead over gainers as of the 354 issues traded on Tuesday, 80 gained, 188 fell while 86 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI declined by 53.75 points to close at 14,065.52 points on Tuesday. Shares and units worth of 27.18 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 262 issues traded during the day, 76 gained, 131declined and 55 remained unchanged.
