Bourses slip after four-day gaining streak

The stock markets of the country lost points on Monday (November 30), the second working day of the week, after four consecutive sessions' gain.

At the same time, Shares and unit prices of most companies declined today. However, the amount of transaction increased from the previous session.

On Monday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX decreased by 14.97 points, standing at 4,866.84 points. Among other indices of the DSE, the Shariah index (DSES) dropped by 6.94 points and the DSE-30 index, comprising blue chips declined by 11.39 points to finish at 1,113.97 and 1,687.40 points respectively.

Shares and units of 804.21 crore taka were traded on the DSE on Monday, which is 38 crore taka more than 766.21 crore taka of the previous working day.

Losers took a big lead over gainers as out of the 349 issues traded, 94 gained, 144 fell while 111 remained unchanged.

On the other hand, the key index of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CASPI went down by 46.69 points to settle at 13,991.43 points on Monday. Shares and units worth of 24.66 crore taka were traded at the CSE.

Among the 245 issues traded during the day, 74 gained, 115 declined and 56 remained unchanged.
