Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 15.74 points or 0.29 per cent to settle at 5,344.01. Two other indices also ended higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 8.58 points to finish at 1,924.26 and the DSE Shariah Index rose 4.88 points to close at 1,231.65.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, however, fell to Taka 13.47 billion, which was Taka 15.29 billion at the previous day.

Gainer took a modest lead over the looser, as out of 361 issues traded, 154 ended lower, 142 higher and 65 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart followed by IFIC, Beximco Pharma, Lanka Bangla Finance and Square Pharma.

BD Finance was the day’s best performer, posting a 10 per cent gain while MHSML was the worst loser, losing 6.79 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)-gaining nearly 47.43 points to close at 15,407.16 while the Selective Categories Index – CSCX advanced 29.57 points to close at 9,292.30. 

Of the issues traded, 132 declined, 117 advanced and 43 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 17.67 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of nearly Taka 471.18 million.
