Stocks today closed the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were spinning and mutual funds. A total of 231 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 58.87 points down at 5,850.43. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 24.19 points down at 1,299.32 and with 27.96 points down at 2,208.82.
The daily trade fell to 72.70 crore shares from Thursday’s 66.23 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 238.48 crore from Taka 207.08 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 359 securities, prices of 72 securities closed higher against 231 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were City Bank, Titas Gas, NBL, Sonali Ansh and SAPORTL. The major losing companies were Jute Spinning, Beximco, CAPMIBBLMF, ALIF and Imam Button.
RECKITTBEN topped the turnover list followed by UNILEVERCL, Marico, Berger PBL and BATBC.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 177.63 points down at 17,047.53.
At CSE, 246 issues were traded. Of those, 61 closed higher and 150 closed lower when 35.09 lakh shares worth Taka 10.49 crore changed hands.
