Summit Power Limited secured the first position of the ‘ICMAB Best Corporate Award 2019’ in the power generation category.
This is the eighth time the corporation received this recognition in corporate governance since 2012.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP, handed over the award to Managing Director of Summit Power Limited (SPL) Lt Gen (Retd) Engr Abdul Wadud at a ceremony at the Hotel Radisson here on Thursday.
Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, chairman of BSEC, Md Jafar Uddin, secretary, ministry of commerce, and AKM Delwer Hussain, president of SAFA were present as special guests, said a press release today.
Financial controller and company secretary of Summit Power Limited Swapon Kumar Pal FCA was also present at the award ceremony.
Summit Power Limited is an independent power producer of Bangladesh and a publicly listed AAA rated company. It is part of Summit Group that has a combined 1,941 MW installed capacity and supplies electricity to the National Power Grid.
Summit Power Limited has been consistent in issuing dividends since its enlistment in both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges in 2005. Summit has received five consecutive best power plant awards from the government of Bangladesh since 2013.
Since 2007, the award has been introduced as an initiative to recognise the contributions made by the corporate entities in Bangladesh and encourage increased competitiveness among the enterprises for better corporate governance.
