Govt hikes price of edible oil again

The government has increased the price of edible oil before Ramadan, citing the rise in price in the international market.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the commodity pricing committee at the Commerce Ministry on Monday.

The price of loose soybean oil at mill gate has been fixed at 113 taka per litre, up from 107 taka. The price of a litre of bottled soybean oil has been fixed at 127 taka at mill gate, 131 taka at dealer level and 139 taka at retail level. 5 litre of bottled soybean has been fixed at 620 taka at mill gate, 640 taka at dealer level and 660 at retail level.

Meanwhile, the price of open palm oil has been fixed at 104 taka per litre at mill gate, 106 taka at dealer level and 109 taka at retail level.

Earlier, on February 17, the government set the retail price of loose soybean oil at 115 taka per litre, bottled soybean oil at 135 taka per litre and palm super oil at 104 taka per litre.
