COVID-19: Global death toll now 2,859,357

The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 2,859,357 as of Tuesday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 131,696,594 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 22,839,831 infected patients 22,741,479 are in mild condition, which is 99.6 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates.

On the other hand, 98,352 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only 0.4.

So far, 74,752,301 people have recovered.

In Bangladesh, 52 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours as of Monday, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 9,318.

Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 644,439 as 7,075 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
