Bangladesh’s per capita income rises to $2,227

Bangladesh’s per capita income stood at $2,227 in the fiscal year 2020-21, which was $2,064 in the previous fiscal year.

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam made the announcement in a press briefing after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday. The Prime Minister joined the meeting virtually.

The per capita income in the country grew by 9 per cent to $2,227 in the fiscal year 2020-21 compared to $2,064 of the fiscal year 2019-20, said Khandker Anwarul Islam.

Meanwhile, country’s Gross Domestic Product increased to Tk 30,87,300 crore, which was Tk 27,96,328 crore in the previous year.
