Bangladesh Restaurant Owners’ Association has urged the government for permission to reopen hotels and restaurants across the country amid the government announced lockdown.
The association said that they will operate their restaurants at half capacity in order to maintain health guidelines if allowed to reopen.
Restaurant owners also sought incentives from the government for the benefit of thousands of workers in the sector, BROA said though a press release on Wednesday.
Restaurant owners in the release said they did not receive any incentive from the government during the pandemic and that there around 60 thousand hotels and restaurants operating in the country employing around 30 lakh workers.
This sector is service-oriented and workers in the sector should get recognition as frontline workers amid the pandemic, the release added.
