Govt to allocate Tk 100 crore for health research

The government has proposed an allocation of Tk 100 crore to facilitate the research and development of the country’s health sector.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal made the proposal while placing the proposed budget of Tk 6,03,681 crore for FY22 in the parliament on Thursday.

He said, “An 'Integrated Health Science Research and Development Fund' has been set up to aid the development of research facilities in the health sector.”

“To enhance structural capacity, sustain achievements in the health sector and ensure adequate preparedness against the future epidemics and pandemics, we are planning to promote technology and research centric medical education,” the finance minister added.

“In order to create infrastructure for basic and practical medical research in the country, I propose Tk 100 crore to facilitate original and practical research activities at the university level in health sector,” said the minister.
