Bangladesh’s total death count from Covid-19 crossed 17,000 on Wednesday after recording 210 new deaths and 12,383 new cases over a span of 24 hours.
As of 8:00am Wednesday, the country recorded a total of 17,052 deaths and 10,59,538 positive cases since the virus was first detected in March last year.
The Director General of Health Services (DGHS), in its daily media brief, said the country’s positive rate was found to be 29.14 per cent after testing 42,490 samples in 627 laboratories till Wednesday morning.
The brief also mentioned that 8,245 patients also recovered from the viral infection over the same period, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 8,97,312. Of the dead, 131 were male and rest female, where 197 died in hospital and the rest 13 died at home.
DGHS also said 107 of the dead were aged above 60 years; 52 aged between 51 and 60; 29 aged between 41 and 50; 14 aged between 31 and 40; seven aged between 21 and 30; and one aged between 11 and 20.
