The Russian ship under US sanctions failed to enter an Indian port and left without unloading the goods.

The ship waited for 14 days to unload the consignment of Rooppur nuclear power plant at Haldia port in India’s West Bengal. But in the end, it turned back due to a lack of permission from Delhi.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs said there was a signal for the vessel to dock at Haldia but later it was banned from docking due to political realities.

According to an official, Delhi may have changed its mind after US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu's visit.

Earlier on January 4, BBC Bangla published a report on the fact that the Russian ship with Rooppur consignment, which was not allowed to enter Bangladesh's Mongla port in the last week of December, is waiting to enter India's Haldia port.
