A popular Pakistani Television journalist along with his team was assaulted by the country’s intelligence officials while trying collect video evidence to expose corruption.

Iqrar Ul Hassan, host of Pakistan’s ARY News popular show Sar-e-Aam, and his team was beaten up by the officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Pakistani TV ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to the details, Iqrarul Hassan and his team members found an IB official taking money during door to door NADRA verification in a sting operation in Karachi’s Orangi area. 

The Sar-e-Aam host and his team members were made hostage and beaten up by the officials of the civilian intelligence agency and were subjected to torture.

Iqrar Ul Hassan was immediately transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he received stitches and first aid medical treatment. Doctors said that basic medical treatment has been completed and his condition is out of danger now, the reports said.

Meanwhile, following the incident, the country’s government suspended five IB officials for manhandling the journalist and his team.
