Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China's readiness to work closely with Russia during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Beijing's Great Hall of the People. President Xi emphasized the nation's commitment to being "Good neighbours, good friends, and good partners" who deeply trust each other.

The ongoing effort to consolidate a lasting friendship benefits both nations, as China and Russia jointly pursue national development and revitalization, and uphold fairness and justice worldwide, President Xi stated.

The meeting, which follows President Putin's fifth inauguration, was notably held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Russia. President Xi warmly welcomed Putin, lauding his leadership and expressing optimism for Russia's future progress under his guidance.

Reflecting on the historic strength of the bilateral relationship, President Xi highlighted its resilience over decades and its role as a model for major and neighbouring countries on mutual respect and benefit. "The China-Russia relationship today is hard-earned, and both sides need to cherish and nurture it," he remarked.

Over the years, he and President Putin have met more than 40 times and stayed in close communication, providing strategic guidance that has ensured the sound, steady and smooth development of the relationship.

President Xi concluded by underlining the broader significance of a stable China-Russia relationship, asserting that it is crucial not only for the well-being of both countries but also for regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
