A two-day-long fair titled 'Priyadarshini Entrepreneur Fair 2022' has been held on Dhaka University (DU) premises to promote women entrepreneur-run businesses.

The fair was organized by Chhatra League in DU’s Ruqayyah Hall on March 14-15, said a press release.

Ruqayyah Hall Provost Prof Dr Zeenat Huda inaugurated the fair where the hall's student entrepreneurs took part and female students of other halls of the university visited.

A total of 33 stalls were set up where women's clothes, pottery, handicraft items, and home-cook food items were showcased by the hall’s student entrepreneurs.

Rokeya Hall Chhatra League President Atika Binte Hossain, said, "We have organised this event on the occasion of Mujib Centenary and Women's Day to encourage and inspire women entrepreneurs.”

“We do not want to be self-dependent only but also want to help other women to get out of the maze of jobs and be empowered in self-reliance. May women's power prevail,” she added.

Rokeya Hall Chhatra League General Secretary Antra Das Pratha, said, “Our main objective was to make the students of the hall aware of their initiatives among the female students and to create entrepreneurial contact with the buyers.”

Ayesha Asha, a student of the Department of Geography and Environment and co-owner of Ria's Rosui, a homecooked food service, took part in the fair. Being satisfied with the response from customers, she said, “All food in my stalls were sold out within an hour. I had to prepare extra food to meet the demand in the evening.”

“This kind of fair can help small entrepreneurs like us to promote our business and inspire others,” she added.

Taramoon Nesa Prova, a student of Drawing & Painting, University of Dhaka showcased her own designer clothing at the fair. “These kinds of fair should be arranged every two to three months.
