Fire extinguished at Indonesian oil refinery, no casualties reported

Fire-fighters have put out a fire at an Indonesian oil refinery in East Kalimantan province on Saturday, with no casualties reported, an official said.

 The fire broke out at about 04:00 a.m. local time at crude distillation unit IV of the Balikpapan refinery situated in Balikpapan town, which is operated by the Indonesian state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, according to Bayu Arafat, general manager of Pertamina international refinery for Balikpapan unit, reports Xinhua.

 The fire was put out at 07:30 a.m. local time, the official said.

"Fire-fighters have successfully controlled the situation and now is the time for cooling," he said in a statement.

 The incident did not disturb the oil supply to consumers, according to the official.
