Indian police have arrested a 21-year-old civil engineering student from Bengaluru in a case filed over the Bulli Bai app case.

The suspect will be brought to Mumbai for questioning, Indian media reported.

“The suspect had posted vulgar comments on the Muslim women after their pictures were posted on the Bulli Bai app,” police officials said.

Police officials suspect that he may have also probably created the app itself. However, police officials said they would need to question him to confirm the matter.

The Bulli bai app case pertains to Muslim women's photos being uploaded on apps and vulgar comments solicited against them.

The Mumbai and Delhi Police had on Sunday registered FIRs against unknown persons after photographs of at least 100 influential Muslim women were uploaded for auction on the app.

There has been outrage by netizens and women rights groups over the dodgy Bulli Bai app.
