Saudi Arabia recently revealed that the Kingdom has established the Saudi Nuclear Energy Holding Company (SNEHC) to participate in local and international commercial nuclear programmes.
Saudi Prince Abdullah Bin Khalid Bin Sultan, Saudi ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), made the announcement in his speech at the session of the IAEA Board of Governors, KSA newspaper Saudi Gazette reported on Friday.
The Saudi prince highlighted safety in developing a nuclear presence in his speech. He expressed appreciation for the IAEA’s efforts to enhance nuclear and radiological safety, transport and waste safety, especially in light of the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, the report added.
Additionally, he also expressed concern about Iran’s nuclear policy in his speech, calling on the country to “cooperate fully with the IAEA” and avoid delays in line with the Vienna talks.
