The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has updated the pilgrims’ entry procedures to the Kingdom to perform Umrah and visit.

According to the ministry, all those coming from outside Saudi Arabia are required to submit an approved negative PCR test or negative antigen test 48 hours before their departure, regardless of their immunisation status, reports newspaper Saudi Gazette.

The updated procedures will come into effect at 1:00am on Wednesday, the ministry confirmed.

Earlier, the Middle Eastern country announced the new travel restrictions starting on Wednesday.

The ministry said the new restrictions were introduced in line with constant follow-up to the epidemiological situation locally and globally, and as part of the measures being taken by the Kingdom to counter the spread of Covid-19 and preserve public health.
