Liquor sale banned in parts of Bengaluru due to Eid-e-Miladunnabi

Police of Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, have imposed a one-day ban on the sale of liquor in parts of East Bengaluru for Sunday on account of Eid-e-Miladunnabi festivities and procession.

Bengaluru police issued an order on Saturday to this end, local media reported quoting police. But the ban will not apply to clubs and five-star hotels in the area.

The ban will remain valid in the areas like Hennur, Govindapura, KG Halli, DJ Halli, Pulkeshinagar, Shivajinagar, Commercial Street and the Bharathinagar police station.

Eid-e-Miladunnabi is celebrated annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the month of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Besides, Hyderabad (Telangana) city police made security, traffic and parking arrangements for peaceful celebrations of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

Marking the celebration, processions would be brought out in various parts of the city, and to ensure law and order police personnel will keep a vigil, media reported.

Meanwhile, President of India Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and chief ministers of Indian different states also greeted the people on the occasion.

Indian National Congress and its former president Rahul Gandhi separately greeted people marking the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
