At least 11 people died and 15 others were injured after electrocution in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, a local government official said.
The incident occurred during a chariot procession during a local festival at a temple in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district, NDTV reports. A chariot came in contact with a high-voltage live electric wire passing above the road and electrocuted the people standing on it.
"The temple palanquin faced some obstacle while taking a turn when it came into contact with the overhead line," NDTV reports, citing officials.
A video of the incident shows the chariot was completely destroyed after coming into contact with the live wire.
