The Bangladesh Bank has asked the scheduled banks to stop evening banking as part of the government measures to save power amidst the ongoing fuel crisis.
The central bank on Wednesday sent letters to the managing directors of the scheduled banks in this regard. The Business Post has obtained a copy of the letter.
The evening banking will remain closed until any further instruction, according to the letter.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and spokesperson Md Serajul Islam told The Business Post that all banks have been asked to stop the evening banking as per the government initiatives to save power.
Now most of the banks are conducting evening banking at their branches located in business hubs and industrial areas.
However, the banks will be able to conduct their activities in ports and industrial areas on Saturday, he added.
