Control room opened to monitor fertiliser situation

The government has opened a control room to monitor the fertiliser situation of the country.

The control room will be kept open at the Ministry of Agriculture from 8:00am to 11:00pm with the coordination of the officials of the ministry and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), a press release said on Sunday.

The initiative came into effect on the same day.

People have been asked to contact the control room in need over the fertiliser issue. If the phone numbers are busy, they have been requested to send messages on WhatsApp.

The names and phone numbers of the on-duty officers of the control room are — Deputy Chief of the ministry Sheikh Badiul Alam - 01713593487, Research Officer M Nurunnabi - 01716462277, DAE Deputy Director (fertiliser) Aminul Islam - 01724245354 and Additional Deputy Director Khandaker Rashed Iftekhar - 01814947054.

According to the ministry, there is sufficient stock of all kinds of fertilisers in the country against the demand.

As of August 25, there were 6.56 lakh tonnes of urea fertiliser, 3.94 lakh tonnes of TSP, 8.23 lakh tonnes of DAP, and 2.73 lakh tonnes of MOP fertiliser in stock, it said.

Besides, there is a demand of 6.19 lakh tonnes of urea, 1.19 lakh tonnes of TSP, 2.25 lakh tonnes of DAP, and 1.37 lakh tonnes of MOP fertiliser during the Aman season (from August to October).
