General point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh increased by 0.14 percentage point to 7.56 per cent in June, which is the highest in eight years of the country.
The inflation rate in May was 7.42 per cent while it was 6.29 per in April.
The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) revealed the “Consumer Price Index (CPI), Inflation Rate and Wage Rate Index (WRI) in Bangladesh” for the month of June on Tuesday.

However, the food inflation rose by 0.07 percentage point to 8.37 per cent in the previous month.
The non-food inflation was 6.33 per cent in June while it was 6.08 per cent in May, the BBS said.
In May, the food inflation was 8.30 per cent while it was 6.23 per cent in April.
In June 2014, the country’s overall inflation rate stood at 6.97 per cent.
